Teaching as a Graduate Student

Register for Teaching as a Graduate Student (TAGS), the CTE’s orientation for new graduate teaching assistants. TAGS aims to provide an overview of equitable and learning-centered teaching and strategies for applying these ideas in contexts most applicable to GTAs.

TAGS is a two-part, hybrid learning experience. A majority of the content lives in on-demand, online modules that graduate students can access at any time. This material is supplemented by in-person, interactive workshops.

Our next live sessions are scheduled for Thursday, January 12, 2023. During 90-minute sessions, small groups of new GTAs meet with an experienced facilitator to discuss the online material, ask questions, and plan effective approaches to common teaching scenarios. Depending on demand, we are planning to offer both in-person and online options during two time slots: 10:30 AM-12:00 PM and 1:00-2:30 PM.

By registering, GTAs will sign up for a live session and receive access to the online material. Participants in the live sessions should have previously completed the online modules. Please note that the online content remains available to everyone, regardless of their ability to attend the live sessions, but for full TAGS participation, we recommend both.
